मराठा पाल- Maratha Pal

The Maratha Navy was the last major pre-independence Indian sea force, which existed between the mid 17th and 18th centuries.

The largest ship of the navy, the Pāl, is the one I decided to make a model of. There was very little information about Maratha naval crafts online, so I had to rely on mostly paintings and some historical descriptions to make the vessel. Since I couldn’t find out about the size of the actual ships, I couldn’t make a typical ‘scale model’.

Note: Due to a lack of historical records about Maratha history available online, I was unable to ascertain the scale of the model.
