I first went kayaking in the summer of 2022 and have gone at every opportunity since. I wanted to track all my kayaking trips, so I decided to make this post. Miles Paddled is an amazing resource for kayaking/canoeing in the US.

Didn’t know about this spot until I got an email about this free Vigo County kayaking experience. It is a lake/pond near Wabash river. Placid waters, not much to see. It’s best to go after it rains.

Very calm waters. It was a tad crowded since it was the weekend. I recommend taking a dip in the water if you come here during the summer.

We found this route on Miles Paddled. Some sections are class II-III rapids. If you have some experience, this route can be quite fun. A friendly local offered to drive us back to our start point where we parked the truck.

This was the largest water body I’ve kayaked in. There were no other boats we could see. Paddling against the wind was very taxing. We had to be a bit careful with the waves.

My first time kayaking! I did go a couple of weeks before this but it was more relaxed and I didn’t record my trip. The waters were really calm and it was a great first experience. We made it across the lake and found an abandoned railroad.
